We can't ask the dolphins why they surf, but these four avid surfers and panelists have been up close with the dolphins and can tell of their experiences and give their opinions. You are quite likely to find out why people surf! For teens and adults. Panel members: Keani Honda-Snow – She is the captain of the Redondo Beach High School Surfing Team and a member of the South Bay Boardriders Club. John Dorsey – He is a Professor Emeritus in Environmental Science from Loyola Marymount University and a watershed management researcher. Jason Shanks – He is the founder of the surf shop Nikau Kai Waterman located in downtown Manhattan Beach. Eric Martin – He is the Roundhouse Aquarium’s Aquarist and also the Head of its Coastal Bottlenose Dolphin Project. The panel will be chaired by John Roberts, a member of the Aquarium Board of Directors and a Biology Professor Emeritus from California State University, Dominguez Hills. The program will begin with a music video of local dolphins surfing and interacting with surfers to the tune of "Surfin' U.S.A." by the Beach Boys. It was produced by Lynne Gross, an Aquarium Board member and a Communications Professor Emerita from California State University, Fullerton. For teens and adults.
