Position Summary 
The President is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization and is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Board of Directors. The CEO has the overall responsibility for the complete and ultimate success of the chamber organization. The CEO shall direct the company in accordance with the policies and bylaws of the chamber. The CEO shall manage all resources (including staff and volunteer efforts) of the chamber to match efforts of the strategic direction set forth by the Board, as well as advancing the growth and prosperity of all chamber members. 

The CEO is responsible for a full range of events, projects, and activities including, but not limited to, creation and coordination of programs, coordination of signature and member events, organizational structure and procedures, income and expenditures, maintenance and growth of the membership, employment, supervision of staff, interpretation of policy, fiduciary responsibility, long range planning, and demonstration of leadership through involvement and participation. 

The CEO also acts as the Executive Director of the Hermosa Beach Chamber Foundation (formed in 2021) which exists to fund and support local community events.

Responsibilities and Duties 
  • Work with the Board of Directors to implement and maintain the mission, strategic plan, and financial direction. 
  • Act as executive producer for Chamber signature events including Best of Hermosa Gala, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Fiesta Hermosa, Locale 90254, and Hermosa for the Holidays.
  • Recruit new members and retention of existing members by directing and participating with appropriate personnel to ensure adequate membership services. 
  • Oversee and manage fiscal resources of the organization including preparation of the annual budget, working with the Executive Committee and for approval by the Board. 
  • In collaboration with the chamber’s designated CPA and the Executive Committee, follow all financial policies in compliance with established laws. 
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with city, county, state and federal governments and their elected officials or staff; represent the chamber at government or business meetings. 
  • Communicate effectively with all government branches, business leaders, members, Chamber staff and Board of Directors. 
  • Responsible for all marketing materials and collateral and special programs to increase membership or provide benefit to membership and local community at large. 
  • Work collaboratively with the Board and Executive Committee and assist officers with input and guidance when needed. 
  • Participate in chamber activities to promote and enhance the image and relationship for the chamber with all groups and parties in the community. 
  • Coordinate the activities of the chamber staff, committees, and volunteers with the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. This includes recruiting, staffing, educating, training, supervision and regular performance reviews. 
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Experience and Skills 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business leadership.
  • Experience in a chamber of commerce or related industry. 
  • Working knowledge of the chamber of commerce industry including: principles, program administration, budget management, strategic planning and volunteer management. 
  • Proven and strong leadership skills. 
  • Demonstrated government advocacy skills. 
  • Ability to develop and motivate teams to work in a collaborative environment achieving superior levels of performance. 
  • Experience in supervisions with proven abilities to recruit, develop, empower and retain staff. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and relevant media experience. 
  • Working knowledge of accounting and finance. 
  • Results-oriented leader whose key objective is to build consensus and create beneficial and productive partnerships in multiple scenarios. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with others, across multiple socioeconomic backgrounds. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of economic development and political dynamics. 
  • Ability to solicit, fundraise and secure sponsorship dollars from public and private sectors. 
  • Ability and desire to productively receive feedback and to turn it into action.

About the Hermosa Chamber
The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau is an organization dedicated to promoting and supporting businesses in Hermosa Beach, California. Its primary goal is to enhance the economic vitality and quality of life within the community. The Hermosa Chamber serves approximately 450 members in a 1.4 square mile community. The Chamber also serves as the Visitor’s Bureau and has a storefront in downtown Hermosa Beach at 120 Pier Avenue. 

Networking: The Chamber provides opportunities for local businesses to network with each other, fostering partnerships and collaborations that can benefit the community as a whole.
Advocacy: The Chamber advocates on behalf of local businesses, representing their interests to local government and other organizations. This can include lobbying for policies that support business growth and economic development.
Promotion: The Chamber promotes their members through various channels, such as online directories like hbchamber.net and trulyhermosa.com, social media, and events. This exposure helps businesses reach new customers and clients.
Education and Resources: The Chamber offers educational seminars, workshops, and resources to help businesses grow and succeed. These can cover topics like marketing, finance, and technology.
Community Engagement: The Chamber produces one large festival per year, Fiesta Hermosa, and several other community events such as Sidewalk Sales, Best of Hermosa Awards, and Locale 90254: Oktoberfest. The Chamber Foundation produces the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Hermosa for the Holidays. 

The Hermosa Chamber plays a significant role in supporting the local business and tourism industries, as Hermosa Beach is known for its beautiful coastline and vibrant beach culture. Additionally, it focuses on promoting the unique character of Hermosa Beach's business district and fostering a thriving local economy.

Work Schedule & Other Information
  • Office hours can vary but are generally Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm
  • Expect meetings outside of the office in the region 
  • Expect some weekends for event management
  • Expect some evenings for ribbon cuttings and networking
